ATHENA: THEN & NOW is a novel design project based on a fictional event organised for the National Archaeological Museum of Athens that aims to engage the general public with archaeological museum exhibits.

The project involves taking various selected artefacts out of the museum context and positioning them strategically in public space all around the city centre. This initiative works as a metaphor of bringing the past into the present by re-contextualizing ancient objects from their conventional environment, in the museum glass cases, into the contemporary surroundings of a busy metropolis.
